LIVEBLOG 36. Israëlische MinDef: voorztter Iraanse National Security Council Ali Larijani GEDOOD

Goedemorgen en leuk dat u kijkt naar alweer een aflevering van Oplopende Spanningen in het Midden-Oosten. Liveblog 35 las u hier.

Iran weet hoe je de grote en kleine Satan echt pijn doet: vastgoedprijzen in Dubai laten crashen. Dus ook vandaag blijft Iran de Emiraten bestoken. "Iran launched fresh attacks on the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, the kind of retaliatory strikes on U.S. Gulf allies that President Donald Trump said had not been expected, but which sources said he had been warned about before the conflict." En daar houden ze niet van in de Golfstaten, die Trump nu lijken te smeken het Iraanse regime voor eens en altijd te verdelgden: "Gulf Arab states did not ask the US to go to war with Iran, but many are now urging it not to stop short by leaving the Islamic Republic still able to threaten the Gulf’s oil lifeline and the economies that depend on it, three Gulf sources tell Reuters. At the same time, these sources and five Western and Arab diplomats say Washington is pressing Gulf states to join the US-Israeli war."

Ook op Israël blijft Iran het proberen natuurlijk, en afgelopen 24 uur helaas niet onverdienstelijk, want door de aanvallen belandden zo'n 70 mensen in het ziekenhuis. Stond gisteravond ook al in het liveblog, maar hier toch nog even opnieuw een vermelding: het aantal Amerikaanse gewonde militairen is volgens de Washington Post opgelopen tot meer dan 200, en dat gebeurde in Israël, Irak, Bahrein, Koeweit, Jordanië, Saoedi-Arabië en de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten.

In ander opmerkelijk nieuws is er voor het eerst een olietanker door een Iraans projectiel geraakt aan de Oostkant van de Straat van Hormuz. Dit zal vandaag ongetwijfeld nog meer druk zetten op de discussie rondom de beveiliging van Hormuz, en het zal de weerstand van andere NAVO-lidstaten daar iets aan bij te dragen daarmee nog verder onderstrepen. Zie bijvoorbeeld het meest Europese nieuwsbericht ooit van gisteravond: "Jetten en Merz eensgezind: nu geen Hormuz-missie en zorgen om antisemitisme". Afijn, we gaan weer live.

Update 08:48 - De Revolutionaire Garde zegt dat het opnieuw "10 buitenlandse spionnen" heeft opgepakt. Het label 'spion' betekent natuurlijk exact helemaal niets bij theocratie op z'n laatste benen.
Update 08:54 - Iraanse diasporakrant Iran International schrijft dat het regime-moraal laag is en uitgestelde salarissen een probleem beginnen te worden: "Signs of discontent, low morale, financial strain and desertion are spreading among parts of Iran’s security and military forces, Iran International has learned. Members of the Special Units Command received a notice on Friday saying salary payments for some units had run into problems, according to people familiar with the matter. The delay marked the third time this year that wages for those forces are being paid late. Following the delays, some personnel refused to attend pro-government gatherings, the sources said, causing disruptions in deployment in some major cities. Retirees and some army personnel have also not been paid for a second straight month."
Update 09:06 - Israël meldt dat het een gerichte luchtaanval heeft uitgevoerd op enorm grote vis namelijk de voorzitter van Irans National Security Council Ali Larijani, maar zijn lot is nog even onduidelijk. "Israel targeted top Iranian official Ali Larijani in an airstrike in Iran overnight, according to Israeli officials. It is unclear if Larijani, the secretary of Iran's National Security Council, was killed or injured in the strike, the officials say." Tweeten kon-ie in ieder geval wel! "Mr. Hegseth! Our leaders have been, and still are, among the people. But your leaders? On Epstein's island!" Z'n laatste tweet was 12 uur geleden.
Update 09:22 - NL MinBuz Sfeerbeheer! "Er zijn vijf gestrande Nederlandse reizigers uit Israël aangekomen in Parijs. BZ hielp hen op de vlucht naar Frankrijk. In Parijs zijn zij opgevangen door collega's van onze ambassade. Indien nodig helpt de ambassade hen om op eigen gelegenheid door te reizen naar Nederland." Ontvangen met een ROODWITBLAUW tafelkleed wat kun je nog meer wensen.
UPDATE 10:27 - ISRAËLISCHE MINDEF: voorzitter Iraanse National Security Council Ali Larijani GEDOOD. Larijani was een van de hoogstgeplaatste officials onder Mojtaba Khamenei waar nog altijd geen teken van leven is vernomen. Maar goed, hij is nu dus dood.
Update 10:35 - Foto vanuit een situation room waar Bibi opdracht geeft tot Larijani's liquidatie.
Update 11:06 - Larijani's Telegramkanaal publiceerde zojuist (zoals eerder, voor de bekendmaking van zijn dood aangekondigd werd) een foto van een handgeschreven briefje. Amit Segal schrijft: "Ali Larijani’s Telegram account has posted a handwritten note by Larijani, written for the funeral of the Iranian Navy casualties. There is no reference to the reports of his assassination, and no proof that he is alive. His account on X has remained inactive since 22:03 last night." Hier het briefje in kwestie.
Update 11:16 - Het geamputeerde homoseksuele kadaver van opperleider Mojtaba Khamenei lijkt te spreken: "Iran’s new Supreme Leader rejected proposals sent to the foreign ministry through two intermediary countries and told a foreign policy meeting that it was “not the right time for peace,” Reuters cited a senior Iranian official as saying. The official said Mojtaba Khamenei believed the United States and Israel must first be defeated and made to pay compensation." Ja, echt het moment om het over herstelbetalingen door Amerika en Israël te hebben. Ten diepste onserieuze mensen.

Update 12:07 - De IDF deelt een infographic over de uitgeschakelde Ali Larijani, beschrijven hem als: "After the elimination of Khamenei, he functioned as the leader of tjhe Iranian regime and led the combat against the Stat eof Israel and countries in the region."
Update 12:45 - Een journalist voor IranWire schrijft dat een Iraanse overheidsfunctionairs de dood van Ali Larijani bevestigt: "LARIJANI UPDATE: It's true. An Iranian official sent a very short message to an @iranwire reporter who asked about Larijani's death: It is true... The government hasn't announced it yet."
Update 12:58 - Iran International schrijft dat bij de luchtaanvallen afgelopen nacht in totaal zo'n 300 Basij-commandanten en veldofficieren gedood zijn: "Around 300 Basij commanders and field officials were killed in a wave of overnight strikes on key command and operational centers of Iran’s Basij forces, Iran International has learned. The strikes appeared to hit the logistics and command structure of a force long used to suppress dissent and confront anti-government protests. In one of the most critical attacks, a Basij support unit’s repair and maintenance center was hit. The site housed hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles used in street operations and neighborhood patrols. Initial reports said the fleet was destroyed."
Update  13:35 - De Emiraten melden dat ze vandaag 10 ballistische raketten en 45 drones 'engaged' hebben.
Update 13:56 - Bibi deelt nieuwe video gericht aan het Iraanse volk, een felicitatie met het Perzische nieuwjaar, Norwuz.
Update 14:51 - Griekse krant Kathimerini schrijft dat vliegdekschip USS Gerard Ford naar verwachting volgende week terugkeert naar de NAVO-basis te Kreta voor herbevoorrading. "The American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford which is currently deployed in the Middle East amid the US and Israeli war on Iran is expected to return to NATO’s naval base on Crete next week, Kathimerini understands. The ship will return for refueling, but possibly also for an investigation into the large fire that broke out aboard the vessel on March 12, according to a source." Het schip 'vaart' momenteel ergens in de Rode Zee langs de Saoedi-Arabische kust.
Update 15:14 - De IDF laat weten dat er de komende uren een grootschalige raketbarrage van Hezbollah op Noord- en Midden-Israël te verwachten valt. De IDF neemt maatregelen om de aanval tegen de gaan en staat klaar om raketten en drones uit de lucht te schieten.
