Iran presenteerde gisteren een aantal voorwaarden voor vredesonderhandelingen, waaronder Amerikaanse herstelbetalingen voor oorlogsschade, het opheffen van alle sancties, volledige soevereiniteit over Hormuz en het vrijgeven van bevroren tegoeden. Trumps reactie daarop luidde dus dat dit "TOTAAL ONACCEPTABEL" is, en aan de telefoon met Axios noemt hij het ook nog ongepast: "I don't like their letter. It's inappropriate. I don't like their response". De Wall Street Journal schrijft op basis van anonieme dat het Iraanse voorstel simpelweg niet in ging op de nucleaire kwestie, en daar is het Trump nu juist primair om te doen. Update 08:29 - Was ons in het geweld van de impasse even ontgaan, maar de Wall Street Journal schrijft dus dat Israël in IRAK een geheime basis had voor eventuele _Search and Rescue_-missies in Iran, en deze soms zowaar tegen Iraakse milities verdedigde. "Israel set up a clandestine military outpost in the Iraqi desert to support its air campaign against Iran and launched airstrikes against Iraqi troops who almost discovered it early in the war, people familiar with the matter including U.S. officials said. Israel built the installation, which housed special forces and served as a logistical hub for the Israeli air force, just before the war started with the knowledge of the U.S., the people said. Search-and-rescue teams were positioned there in case Israeli pilots were downed. None have been."
