"Russisch offensief Bakhmut verliest momentum". Avdiivka wordt het nieuwe zwaartepunt

Vorige week woensdag schreef het Britse MinDef dat "there is a realistic probability that the Russian assault on Bakhmut is losing the limited momentum it had obtained, partially because some Russian MoD units have been reallocated to other sectors." En dit weekend kopte de Wall Street Journal: "Ukraine Says Front Lines Around Embattled City of Bakhmut Are Stabilizing."

Kortom, de stad is nog steeds in Russische handen, maar daar lijkt het bij te blijven omdat een Oekraïens tegenoffensief het Russische momentum gestopt heeft. "The commander in chief of Ukraine’s armed forces, Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, said the front lines around the eastern city of Bakhmut were stabilizing after months of grueling combat (...). A spokesman for the Ukrainian military’s eastern command said it was too soon to conclude Russia’s offensive there had run out of steam. “The coming week will tell,” Serhiy Cherevatyi said. “For now, Bakhmut remains the epicenter of military operations, the area of the main enemy attack.”
