Of is er daadwerkelijk een geloofwaardige dreiging en zijn die landelijke voorzorgsmaatregelen proportioneel? Enfin, better safe than sorry misschien. Maar toch.

In totaal zijn er zo'n 25.000 National Guard-makkers die de inauguratie zelf beschermen. Maar defence officials maken zich nu zelfs zorgen om een aanval van binnenuit diezelfde National Guard, en die worden nu dus alle 25.000 met een bouwlamp in het gezicht gescreend. "In coordination with the Secret Service and the FBI, they're screening all the personnel that are coming in. (...) If there's any indication that any of our soldiers or airmen are expressing things that are extremist views, it's either handed over to law enforcement or dealt with the chain of command immediately. (...) We're continually going through the process, and taking second, third looks at every one of the individuals assigned to this operation." Mooie boel.
